EAT IT
EAT IT is a way of serving finger food straight from the supermarket shelves. Compared to the current plastic packages, it increases the friendly and hospitable ambiance of eating finger food and emphasizes the quality of the food. Especially with the glass on glass connection of the lid and the bowl!
Eat it arose from the question from glass factory O-I to come up with a product that would give them new production possibilities. Their main criteria was that the sales should be high enough to fit 24/7 production.
My input for the research started at the user site. With use of a sensitizing booklet participants were triggered to think about glass in their daily life. After one week participants were paired to discuss the findings in the booklet during an interview. The results were translated into an inspiring booklet called why to love glass.

During the next phases I executed a research on the perception of food in glass compared to food in other packaging materials. I facilitated a creative session for input from outside our design team next to the brainstorm session we had. With the results I created a prototype and tested that with multiple users.
The first glass on glass packaging is the result. A simple but effective bowl with a glass lid that emphasizes the quality and specialness of eating finger food with friends or family.
Currently EAT IT is in development at O-I.
